St Leonards Business Named Best Small Business By HSBC

Shopper Anonymous celebrate their award for small business of the year at the 1066 Business Awards 2010.

A four-year-old business from St Leonards has scooped a top award at a regional business ceremony.

Shopper Anonymous, who specialise in mystery shopping and customer service, was named Best Small Business at the HSBC 1066 Business Awards last week against stiff competition. The 4 person business was given the accolade in recognition of the impact their services have had on a range of other local businesses, helping them to improve revenues and increase profits, to the benefit of the local economy.

The award was presented at a ceremony last week (in Hastings) by TV newsreader Fred Dinenage, who said of Shopper Anonymous:

“The winner in this category knows all about service – it has to – it’s its business. Shopper Anonymous only employs 4 people, although works with over 100 self employed consultants.

“They have supported hundreds of small businesses, mainly in the South East, in improving their customer service – a key driver for business success. They have also won contracts with national companies such as Bannatyne’s, Booths Supermarkets, and Monkey Bizness.

“Sales are anticipated to increase by 20% this year, and they have now started to franchise the business model.”

Shopper Anonymous is an independent mystery shopping business, specialising in improving customer service standards by providing businesses with constructive, non-emotive feedback through a mystery shopping programme.

Unlike other mystery shopping companies, Shopper Anonymous handpick their team of shoppers, meaning the quality of the feedback is accurate and written in a style that explains the experience in a full, constructive but honest manner, allowing the business owner to easily identify the changes that can be made to see immediate results in customer activity and spend.

Shopper Anonymous UK was set up in 2007 by Managing Director Jonathan Winchester after ten years running Shopper Anonymous across Australia and New Zealand. The company now works with independent retailers including farm shops, delis and coffee shops across the South East, with separate franchises in Kent and Surrey with a new franchise opportunity to be launched in West Sussex at the Let’s Do Business show in Brighton on 13 May.

Jonathan says that awards such are really important for business: “Obviously we’re chuffed to bits to be named Best Small Business, especially as we know many of the companies we were up against, all of which are fantastic businesses in their own right.

“Winning an award such as this helps you to stand out from the crowd as it recognises our quality of service (and we all know how important that is) and the real difference we can make to many other businesses, both within 1066 Country and across the country.”
